Pacesetters Action Community

The Pacesetters Action Community (PAC) is an ongoing community to support institutions that are invested in using the Wellbeing Improvement Survey for Higher Education Settings (WISHES) to advance the long-term pursuit of better and more equitable wellbeing outcomes.  After completing the Launch Lab, institutions that continue to administer WISHES are invited into the PAC.

PAC institutions explore questions such as: 

  • What does thriving mean to different students?
  • What groups of students are disproportionately not thriving due to inequitable conditions?
  • What enables students to thrive?
  • What prevents students from thriving?
  • In what ways are threats to thriving impacting learning, degree attainment, and workforce readiness?
  • What would “better” look and feel like to students?
  • What at your college/university needs to change to enable more students to thrive?
  • What does your team need to learn about implementation of these change ideas in order to maximize impact?
  • In what ways are the answers similar or different across particular groups students?

Improvement teams receive development and training on human-centered design and improvement science methods and tools (e.g., Asset mapping, Journey mapping, prototyping techniques) that will help us answer these questions, together.  PAC teams actively test changes, identify what does and does not work in what settings and for whom, track progress, adapt ideas, build relationships and trust within their institution and across the PAC network, and focus on problem-solving.

Participating in PAC: 

  • facilitates relationships between your team and other ANEW changemakers at institutions across the United States with similar interests and priorities
  • fosters peer support for problem-solving
  • creates space for sharing experiences, learnings, and promising practices across participating institutions 
  • builds agency, capacity, and capability for changemaking, using  data for learning and improvement, and pursuing equity
